Building an Accessible Web
The web was built to be accessible to everyone. Unfortunately in the pursuit of turning the Internet into a marketing tool, and allowing creativity to flow by producing better-looking websites, the ideals of an accessible web were lost.
Over the past several years, web developers have been forced by the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) to make their websites more accessible, and it has seen the general level of access increase.
There have been a lot said about accessibility and its impact it has from a web design perspective, with many myths stating that to produce accessible web site you were forced to produce sub standard designs and a boring, text heavy website. The good news is that is not the case, by utilising web standards and building your website with accessibility in mind from the very beginning, you can produce accessible websites that are not boring or ugly.
At Modika we really want an accessible web, and we work hard to produce websites that are built using web standards and are accessible to anyone wishing to use them. We believe that ensuring your website is accessible opens your company up to new business that an inaccessible website would not be able to, allowing your business to reach new markets.
If you have an existing website and would like us to look at its accessibility level, or you want your new website to be accessible, please contact us.
